History & Background

Dave Cottrell, born and raised in Palmer, Alaska and Bob Mikunda formed Mikunda Cottrell & Co. in 1977. This became one of the largest and most respected locally owned accounting firm in Alaska by serving Alaska's government, business and citizens with the highest level of quality, integrity and professionalism.

Today, Dave Cottrell heads Mikunda Cottrell Accounting and Consulting, Inc. This completely separate and independent firm providing outsourced bookkeeping, management consulting, Corporate and referral services was formed in 2001 to enable strict compliance with GAO Accounting requirements and to comply with the provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, passed by Congress in the wake of the Enron debacle.

Additionally, an in-house affiliate, Creative Financial Staffing, provides permanent, temp-to-hire and temporary financial staff for employers in Alaska.
